Summary
There are various exciting opportunities for experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic Administrators to work within the Maternity team at Barts Health NHS Trust.
This position is based within the Women's and children’s Division and will be based at Newham University Hospital. This is a busy and dynamic service where we put patients at the centre of the care that we provide.
The successful candidate will require excellent communication and organisational skills and possess a positive can-do attitude, preferably with previous administrative experience.
The successful candidate should ideally have previous NHS experience in a similar setting and be familiar with Trust systems, such as Cerner Millennium (CRS).
The post holder is responsible for the provision of Administrative and Clerical support to all areas of the maternity department.
To deliver and coordinate an effective administrative and reception service to Maternity Department.
The post holder will be expected to rotate between all maternity Departments to fulfil shift patterns, to cross cover, and to fill in gaps as required.
At reception level, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring that patients are appropriately admitted and discharged on CRS, make appropriate appointment, ensuring that patients demographics details are accurate and up to date.
Responsibility will include ensuring all phone calls are answered and activity are kept up to date
· This job description has been developed to reflect the development of Roles & Responsibilities with the ward clerks and Receptionists within Maternity service.
· The successful candidate must be flexible and able to cross cover in patient area.
· It is expected that all staff are committed to and participate in all training as appropriate to this post. With the full support of their respective line manager. This may lead to further opportunities and development of the post and the post holder.
· Main Duties
· provide cross cover administration support within the maternity teams.
· to carry out duties consistent with the post as required by the line manager.
· To assist clinical staff to ensure the smooth running of the antenatal clinic environment in a way that enhances the efficiency of the service, reporting to the antenatal team leader of any issues impacting the delivery of administrative service provision in a timely manner.
· To answer the telephone according to the trust policy and take messages as required.
· To inform the appropriate staff of potential security risk and reporting actual security incidents
· To comply with the trust policies and procedures, particularly those associated with overseas visitors, private patients.
· To train new members of staff where appropriate
