SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School (KS1) | Gorton | September Start | Full-Time Contract
Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? Do you have experience working with young learners with autism? We are looking for a dedicated and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Gorton, starting in September on a full-time contract lasting the academic year.
The Role
You will be supporting a number of Key Stage 1 (KS1) pupils with autism, working both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. The role will involve:
- Assisting with daily classroom activities and routines
- Adapting learning materials to meet individual needs
- Encouraging social, emotional, and academic development
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
- Supporting the implementation of EHCPs and behaviour support plans
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience supporting children with ASD/Autism (in a school or care setting)
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A passion for inclusive education
- An understanding of safeguarding and child development
- A relevant qualification ( Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) - desirable but not essential
- A enhanced DBS on the Update Service (if you do not have one, you must be willing to apply for a DBS, we can assist you in the application process)
