Are you a calm, resilient, and compassionate individual looking to support young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs?
We're working with a supportive and inclusive primary school in the Manchester area seeking a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. This long-term position is ideal for someone experienced in supporting a child with autism.
About the Role:
In this rewarding role, you'll work closely with pupils who require additional support due to SEN needs. You will play a vital part in helping children feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
Your day-to-day will include:
-Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups with emotional regulation and behaviour
-Assisting the class teacher in creating a nurturing and structured learning environment
-Implementing personalised support plans and behaviour strategies
About the School:
-Inclusive primary school with a focus on wellbeing and holistic development
-Supports pupils aged 4-11 with a variety of needs including SEMH and communication challenges
-Strong pastoral team and a collaborative, whole-school approach to behaviour
-Easily accessible from central Rochdale and surrounding areas
-Rated OUTSTANDING by Ofsted for behaviour and personal development
What We're Looking For:
✅ Experience supporting children or young people with SEN
✅ Confidence in managing behaviour and using positive behaviour strategies
✅ A calm, consistent and empathetic approach
✅ Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
✅ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Relevant qualifications such as Team Teach, MAPA or a Level 2/3 TA qualification are desirable but not essential.
