Crynodeb

Are you an experienced SEND professional with a passion for inclusive education, post-16 transitions, and improving employment outcomes for young people with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)? Do you have a strong understanding of Ofsted requirements, quality assurance, and the delivery of high-impact education programmes?
We’re looking for a skilled and committed Programme Coordinator to lead our Supported Internship programme in Barnet — helping young people with learning disabilities and/or autism build skills and gain meaningful work experience on their journey into paid employment.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking, values-driven charity and lead a multidisciplinary team supporting learners to thrive.
About the Role
As Programme Coordinator, you’ll lead a talented team — including Tutors, Skills Coaches, Employer Engagement Officers, and Administrators — to deliver high-quality provision tailored to learners with EHCPs.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Overseeing the operational delivery of the programme in line with Ofsted, ESFA, and awarding body requirements.
- Embedding a culture of continuous quality improvement, learner progress, and inclusive practice.
- Creating a safe, supportive and ambitious learning environment for young people with learning disabilities and/or autism.
- Building strong relationships with local authorities, employers, families, and other key stakeholders.
- Monitoring performance against KPIs and outcomes, including learner progression, sustained employment, and quality indicators.
- Ensuring full compliance with funding contracts, safeguarding, and regulatory standards.

What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to hear from people with:
- Experience managing education, SEND, or supported employment programmes, particularly with young people with EHCPs.
- Strong knowledge of Ofsted’s Education Inspection Framework (EIF), ESFA and awarding body requirements.
- A solid understanding of contract compliance, safeguarding, and working in partnership with families and support services.
- Excellent leadership skills — able to manage performance, motivate teams, and embed inclusive, person-centred approaches.
- Experience in budget management, effective data monitoring, and reporting against quality benchmarks.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships across education, health, and employment sectors.

Why Join Mencap?
- Work for a values-led organisation driven by kindness, inclusion, bravery, positivity, and passion.
- Be part of a national charity that champions employment and education pathways for young people with learning disabilities and autism.
- Access ongoing professional development and training to support your growth and impact.
- Make a real difference in the lives of learners, their families, and communities.
