An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of a Policy and Equality Officer, working within the Policy and Performance Team, that will contribute to the delivery of a broad range of priorities detailed in the council’s Corporate Plan: This is Our Salford.
About the Role
The Policy and Equality Officer role will contribute to the development of an evidence based policy function to support the decision making and priorities of the City Council and wider Salford Partnership. The role is a mix of strategy and policy development, advice and guidance; project/programme management; and policy and stakeholder engagement to strengthen our work advocating for change at a local, regional and national level.
The post-holder will be encouraged to develop expertise in particular policy areas but will be expected to work flexibly across the team in order to support the delivery of a joined-up, co-ordinated and evidence based policy function to the organisation.
About you
We’re looking for someone with proven experience and a strong passion for strategy and policy development, ideally working across complex partnership relationships. You will have a sound understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing local authorities across a wide range of policy agendas. The role requires strong analytical and communication skills and will work collaboratively across directorates and with external partners to drive positive change. An appropriate degree or professional qualification is desirable but not essential.
