Summary

As a Security Supervisor at No.10, you will oversee a team of 16 Security Officers (Custodians) working on a 24/7 rota to provide a world-class service to the Prime Minister and staff in Downing Street.

You will supervise No.10’s Security Control Room (SCR) and provide leadership and management to security operations in a busy and high profile environment.

This is a new role designed to cement the SCR as the centre of operational decision making for No.10. The successful applicants will have leadership and management experience and will be comfortable making decisions to solve problems and manage risk in a fast-paced environment.

Working Hours

As a Security Supervisor, you will work a 12 hour shift pattern as follows:

2 days (0700 - 1900)

2 nights (1900 - 0700)

4 days off

A shift allowance of 20% and a weekend premium allowance will be paid on top of your base salary. Please note, shift patterns may be subject to changes.

Key responsibilities;

  • Maintain the high standards of professionalism and performance expected at No.10
  • Lead and line manage a team of Custodians to deliver security operations at Downing Street
  • Manage the Security Control Room and oversee a wide range of physical and technical protective security measures
  • Co-ordinate and manage the immediate response to a security incident
  • Co-ordinate resourcing, shift reporting and handovers; manage absence requests and ensure 24/7 cover
  • Manage available resources and delegate effectively to ensure Downing Street runs smoothly at all times
  • Oversee L&D for the Custodian team through effective mentoring and a pathway of continuous professional development.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver events, receptions and high profile visits.
