Crynodeb
To provide high-quality, child-centred social work to children and families in need of care and support, ensuring that interventions promote safety, stability, and improved outcomes. As a Grade 11 Social Worker, the postholder will be expected to work with a high level of autonomy on complex cases and contribute to service development, mentoring, and quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Casework:
Hold and manage a caseload of complex and high-need children and families in line with statutory requirements (e.g., Children in Need, Child Protection, Looked After Children).
Undertake detailed assessments of children and families to identify needs and risks, using evidence-based tools.
Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with children, families, and professionals to ensure safety and well-being.
Lead safeguarding enquiries under Section 47 of the Children Act 1989 and initiate legal proceedings when necessary.
Direct Work and Advocacy:
Build positive, professional relationships with children and families that foster trust and enable positive change.
Ensure the voice of the child is central in assessments, planning, and interventions.
Undertake direct work with children and young people, including life-story work, preparation for permanency, and trauma-informed support.
Multi-agency Working:
Coordinate multi-agency responses through Child Protection Conferences, Core Groups, CIN meetings, and LAC Reviews.
Collaborate with education, health, police, and third-sector organisations to provide integrated support.
Professional Leadership & Development:
Support and mentor newly qualified and less experienced social workers and students.
Actively participate in group supervision, reflective practice sessions, and case audits.
Contribute to service improvements through feedback, innovation, and knowledge-sharing.
Legal and Statutory Responsibilities:
Prepare high-quality, analytical court reports, care plans, and other legal documentation.
Attend and give evidence in court as required.
Ensure all case records and documents are timely, accurate, and compliant with local and national standards.
