What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking a highly organised, proactive, and detail-oriented individual to take on the role of Exams Officer. This is a pivotal position in the school, responsible for the smooth planning, administration, and delivery of all internal and external examinations. You will ensure that all exams are conducted in accordance with the regulations and that students receive the best possible support throughout the process.
As Exams Officer, you will coordinate with awarding bodies, manage key dates and deadlines, support invigilators, and act as the main point of contact for students and staff on all matters relating to examinations.
Key Skills and Qualities
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
• Exceptional organisational skills – able to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and exam schedules with accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail – essential for handling confidential data, exam entries, and ensuring full compliance with exam board regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – confident when dealing with students, parents, staff, and external agencies.
• Problem-solving abilities – able to think quickly and respond calmly and efficiently to unexpected issues on exam days.
• Confidence with IT systems – comfortable using exam management systems, spreadsheets, and school databases (SIMS).
• Understanding of exam procedures and relevant body regulations – or a willingness to undertake full training.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team – self-motivated and dependable, with a strong sense of accountability.
Experience and Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following experience or who are willing to develop in these areas:
• Prior experience in exam administration or within a school/education setting (highly desirable).
• Experience managing or supervising others (e.g. exam invigilators or administrative staff).
• Familiarity with data entry, compliance processes, or handling confidential student information.
• A qualification or background in administration, education, or similar is advantageous.
