Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Sittingbourne
Reports To: Engineering Manager / Design Manager
Job Type: Full-Time
Department: Engineering / Building Services / MEP

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Design Engineer to develop and deliver electrical designs across a variety of construction, industrial, or infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be experienced in designing electrical systems that are compliant, efficient, cost-effective, and tailored to client needs.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop detailed electrical design drawings and specifications for LV/HV systems, lighting, small power, containment, fire alarms, security systems, and emergency lighting.
• Perform electrical load calculations, cable sizing, fault level studies, and discrimination analyses.
• Work collaboratively with mechanical, structural, and architectural teams on coordinated designs.
• Ensure designs meet client requirements, statutory regulations, British Standards (e.g., BS7671), and relevant industry codes.
• Prepare technical submissions, design reports, and schedules for tender and construction phases.
• Use design software such as AutoCAD, Revit (MEP), Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and electrical calculation tools.
• Conduct site surveys and attend design team/client meetings as required.
• Support procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning phases with technical input.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Stay updated on new technologies, legislation, and sustainable design practices.

Key Skills & Experience:
• Proven experience in electrical design within the building services or construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, control systems, and relevant UK regulations and standards.
• Ability to produce fully coordinated electrical designs and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with BIM and 3D modelling (Revit MEP preferred).
• Proficient in electrical design tools (e.g., Amtech, Dialux, AutoCAD, Revit).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong problem-solving and project management abilities.

Qualifications:
• Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related field.
• Chartered or working towards Chartered status (IET or similar) preferred.
• ECS/CSCS Card and familiarity with CDM Regulations are advantageous.

Desirable Attributes:
• Experience with sustainable or low-carbon electrical design (e.g., PV systems, EV charging, energy storage).
• Experience in sectors such as commercial, residential, healthcare, data centres, or industrial facilities.
• Knowledge of international standards if working on global projects.
