Health and Safety Manager - Dewsbury
Full time - £40000 per annum
Monday to Friday - normal office hours
Your Duties will include:
Day to Day Operations of H&S department in DEWSBURY
Ensure that safety standards, policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to, and to ensure compliance with legislation.
Take ownership of, develop and continuously update the Safe Systems of Working (SSOW) and SOP’S and ensure all appropriate training is administered/provided to the workforce
Manage Incident, accident investigations and near miss reporting
Manage/audit the provision of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment ensuring that any risks associated to tasks are managed/minimised;
Manage, administer and deliver site inductions for new starters;
Hold and manage EH&S committee meetings;
Provide timely information and documentation to support the Company claims handling process as required;
Work under own initiative and be capable of prioritising highest risk issues, planning workloads and following through to completion or implementation
General Duties
Advise and support the employer, the management team and employees on a day-to-day basis to improve H&S and issues on site
Communicate effectively via various means to ensure information is clearly understood by all persons concerned
Identify potential hazards and advise on eliminating / reducing risks
Carry out administrative duties including recording incidents, preparing statistics, reports/briefs
Undertake general and specific risk assessments
Undertake site inspections and audits
Provide assistance and support with investigating / recording incidents/accidents and complaints or cases of ill health
Help maintain training records, documentation and registers
Help to prepare and maintain company health and safety policies and procedures
Assist with control of contractors to site
Preparing and controlling safe systems of work and safe operating procedures
Control and management of Lean manufacturing and Factory KPI’S
Qualifications
Essential
GradIOSH or above
Proven experience in facilitating behavioural safety change programmes
Degree or similar level of education
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence change
Interested to keep up to date with changes in legislation and their impact on the business
Prior health and safety experience ideally from a manufacturing business
Ambition to continue with your own personal professional development
Computer literate including Microsoft office software packages
Preferred
Environmental experience.
Person Specification
A professional and approachable person to join a small team who has excellent organisational and communication skills. Previous experience in a similar H&S role is essential. With a hands on approach to actively engage with the workforce.
Benefits
30 days holiday per annum (including Bank Holidays), increasing by 0.5 days for each full year of service, capped at 40 days.
