Hours 35 hours per week predominantly working Monday to Friday between the hours of 12pm and 19.30pm.

All MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

Milton Keynes Hospital has a fresh cook staff restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, and evening meal along with snacks and a proud to serve Costa.

We are pleased that many of our existing catering staff have worked in the department for a long time which makes it a great place to work in an everchanging environment. If you are welcoming have great customer service skills and are a big team player, you need to apply for this role.

We are looking for a team member that has worked in a busy kitchen and has a passion for keeping the environment clean and tidy. The restaurant offers on site hospitality and retail and is a busy fast paced environment. We want you to be part of a team that makes a real difference to our staff restaurant enhancing patients and staff experience whilst in hospital. Don’t worry if you have not worked in a hospital before - Full training and induction will be given, special diets, food allergens, food hygiene and foodservice.

Post holders will be responsible for assembling and delivering food and provisions across Milton Keynes University Hospital sites in accordance with specified standards. Post holders will be required to provide a wide range of domestic service related tasks within Milton Keynes University Hospital sites.

1. General wash up duties for Breakfast, Lunch and Supper service.
2. Ensure the crockery and cutlery are clean and ready for service
3. Responsible for the hygiene for the kitchen, wash up and servery areas, large equipment is deep cleaned on a rota system.
4. Liaise with supervisors to ensure that all equipment is clean and ready for service.
5. Ensure chemicals are stored and COSHH is adhered to in line with HACCP and food safety legislation.
6. Maintain the cleanliness of all areas and all equipment according to hygiene regulations.
7. Work from heights, ensure the walls, extractions and ceiling are deep cleaned routinely.
8. Operating dishwasher machinery. Maintain dishwasher and make sure it is clean after every use.
9. Replenish stock items i.e. all soap dispensers and handtowels.
10. Reconciliation of stock where appropriate.
11. Assist in the training of new starters by demonstrating duties to new starters.
12. Attend training course as required.
13. Maintain a safe working environment.
14. To adhere to the Department’s Food Hygiene Policy and the Department’s Assured Safe Catering Document.
15. Awareness and have a working knowledge of control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH).
16. Any other duties as required by your supervisor or manager in relation to the function and smooth running of the Catering department.
17. Assist the storeman with deliveries as and when required.
