Role overview

Our Training and Development Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of training strategies, plans and processes to support organisational goals. To deliver the highest quality training and management to enable the shops to always meet the business needs within a highly competitive marketplace. To identify training needs and advise on appropriate solutions based on current business strategies.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver Management and Leadership courses as per the Training Calendar
  • Design and delivery of training courses and materials across all business areas based on both individual’s and organisation’s needs
  • To devise blended learning solutions
  • To produce training materials for in-house training programmes.
  • Ensure a continuous improvement plan is in place for all training tools, sessions, and development programmes
  • Putting systems and tools in place to allow the line mangers to conduct their own training
  • Supporting the work of shop and new opening trainers
  • Management of Sideways platform to ensure content is relevant and up to date
  • Sourcing and managing relationships with external training and development organisations and consultants
  • Manage the relevant training processes to ensure an up-to-date training calendar is in operation with the appropriate administrative resources to support its delivery
  • Remain commercially aware of developments in training
  • Use Training needs analysis process to identify areas in which training should be developed and implemented
  • Ensure the relevant Career Path for each department is being followed and support in the delivery of this
  • To liaise with department heads to develop specific induction requirements
  • Support the MIT programme to ensure all new managers receive a great onboarding experience including the creation of training plans, MIT visits and MIT sign offs
  • Manage the relationships with the Centre of Excellence trainers to ensure the consistent delivery of the MIT Training programme
  • Manage communication with Apprenticeship providers of L2 – L4 standards
  • Maintain the Standards and Managers Manuals to ensure the content is relevant for business needs
  • Monthly reporting of training and development KPIs in line with business focuses
  • Acting as the ‘go to’ within the business for anyone with questions or queries regarding training and development plans
  • Working closely with all stakeholders across the organisation and having a full understanding of their training requirements?
  • Embracing different styles of training techniques, including e-learning, classroom, virtual classroom, and coaching
  • Building relationships with 3rd party training providers
  • Able to design and implement new training and development programmes from scratch and recommend appropriate training methods
  • Ensure all training and development activity is delivered within budget, regularly reviewing content and return on investment – identify cost saving where possible.
