Summary

Bats are remarkable animals and an important part of our natural environment. The Bat Conservation Trust (BCT) is proud to be the leading non-governmental organisation devoted solely to the conservation of bats and their habitats. Our mission is to work collaboratively and with a diversity of people to achieve resilient populations of bats and improve their habitats in an ever-changing world. BCT works on a number of levels to create a better world for bats and runs a range of different projects and initiatives. BCT’s head office is in Battersea, London. We also work in Wales and Scotland and have remotely based staff in other areas.

BCT's Built Environment and Woodland Projects act to strengthen engagement and collaboration between the conservation sector and the building and woodland sectors respectively. We provide articles and presentations, training and best practice guidance, sit on relevant Steering Groups and panels and develop new initiatives and projects that contribute to our strategic objectives. Both projects involve awareness raising, technical expertise, relationship building, training delivery, communication and business development.

The Biodiversity Training Officer will sit within the Biodiversity Team and primarily support the Built Environment and Woodland Projects with developing, delivering, improving and promoting both in-person and online training to these sectors and also to ecologists supporting these sectors.

Of key importance to this role is the ability to enthuse industry professionals with little knowledge of bats or wider biodiversity conservation, inspiring them to change their practices to achieve gains for conservation within their sphere of expertise.
