About the Role
The Deputyship Service is a front line service which manages the property and financial affairs of citizens who have been assessed to lack mental capacity with their finances. The Local Authority step in to act as a last resort where there is no-one else suitable, able or willing to act.
Be the first to apply for this newly created Senior Deputyship Officer role and support the delivery of a high quality service to some of Nottingham’s most vulnerable citizens. The key areas of responsibility are as follows:
- Manage a caseload of up to 15 complex cases in compliance with relevant requirements and standards
- Provide expert advice, guidance and support to Deputyship and Appointeeship Officers on complex casework matters
- Take responsibility for decisions falling above and outside of Deputyship and Appointeeship Officer limits
- Lead the Induction, Training and Buddying of new and existing colleagues
- Manage referrals from Adult Social Care colleagues, including meetings to provide information, advice and guidance, triaging referrals, completing onboarding task and undertake urgent holding casework.
- Supporting the Deputyship Manager with service delivery and projects
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Extensive experience of undertaking legal, financial or relevant social care casework to vulnerable adults
- Knowledge and expertise in the following areas: welfare benefits; Court of Protection rules and processes; Office of the Public Guardian Standards, good practice requirements for Deputyship Service Delivery.
- Experience and an in-depth understanding of Adult Social Care Services and Safeguarding provided under the Care Act including expertise in Charging for Care and Support and how this applies to Deputyship Service citizens
- The ability to; support and develop colleagues to independently manage deputyship case work; provide training, support and supervision to colleagues; evidence of leadership skills and the ability to act as a role model and mentor; ability to manage the performance of individuals and teams through performance management systems
- The ability to work effectively with citizens as well as a range of agencies and professional and community groups, in order to deliver good outcomes for citizens and carers.
- Excellent communicator of complex information both written and verbal, able to write concise clear and accurate reports and briefings, prepare and present verbally in a concise, clear and engaging manner
