The post holder would be expected to promote and deliver outstanding teaching, learning and attainment in PE across all Key Stages (3-5) as well as supporting the extensive extra-curricular sports programme on offer at Christ’s. The post holder will be responsible for promoting the safeguarding of all students and be always mindful of ensuring equality of opportunity for all students and staff. The post holder will adhere to the teachers’ professional standards and will also promote the school’s Christian ethos and vision.
What the school offers its staff
Christ's School is located near Richmond Park and is a truly inclusive and comprehensive Anglican school which provides for students of every faith and every background and has attained an excellent reputation within the local community. Its strong Christian ethos permeates all aspects of the school's work and this has had a marked impact in securing excellent outcomes in each student's personal development, based on good relationships at all levels.
Christ’s has excellent CPD opportunities for all staff and can offer PGCE/ECT mentoring support and has a welcoming social community. Staff health and wellbeing are extremely important to us with opportunities to work and socialise together outside of the classroom, enjoying activities such as staff breakfast, yoga, salsa dancing, football and other team sports.
Sport and physical activity is highly valued by our senior leaders and it is a cornerstone of school life. At Christ’s we believe Sport is a key component in building self-esteem, confidence, school ethos and academic excellence. The PE department are the architects of building a sporting culture of willingness and enthusiasm, one that binds the school together and reinforces the drive to engage in physical activity, compete in sport and excel academically. We relish in providing a physical activity and sport programme that competes with that of our independent counterparts.
Our facilities are excellent for the delivery of Physical Education in the curriculum and throughout extracurricular. We possess a full size sports hall, MUGA, specialist Dance studio, expansive field space for Rugby, Football and Cricket as well as state of the art cricket netting.
We now see students making Christ’s their first choice specifically for the sports provision, opportunities and the level of competition offered across a multitude of sports.
Commitment to safeguarding
Christ’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. Applicants will undergo appropriate child protection screening including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
