What skills and experience we're looking for
We are currently seeking a Pre School assistant to support the Pre School Lead in providing a safe and stimulating environment for all children. The successful candidate will be required to encourage the children to take part in all activities, listen to children and assist them when needed and promote positive behaviour by positive encouragement, praise and role modelling.
We are looking for someone caring, kind, reliable, and happy to get stuck in and someone who enjoys working in a small team to provide the best possible childcare for all the children in our setting. You will be educated to GCSE level standard or equivalent with passes in English and Maths at Grade C or above. In addition, candidates must be qualified to a minimum of level 3 in early years and have at least 2 years’ experience of working in an early year setting. Ideally you will also hold a current paediatric first aid qualification or be willing to attend the necessary training to get one.
As Childcare lead you will take overall responsibility for the childcare offering, we have at Hunnyhill school. This includes afterschool care and holiday club for children aged 3 to 11. The role includes the administration of booking and invoicing for the club, as well as planning exciting and engaging activities that meet the needs of all the children. You will also timetable staff according to uptake of the childcare. You will need to hold DSL training or be prepared to undertake this course. Ideally the candidate will have some previous experience in a lead role and managing a setting.
