Job Title: Planning Enforcement Officer (Sickness Cover)

Contract Type: Temporary – Sickness Cover
Hours: 30 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:30)
Hourly Rate: £15.00 – £15.70 per hour
Job Summary:
Rugby Borough Council is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Planning Enforcement Officer to provide sickness cover within the Housing unit. The successful candidate will investigate alleged breaches of planning control, assess compliance with planning regulations, and take appropriate enforcement action where necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
• Investigate complaints and reports of potential planning breaches.
• Conduct site visits and gather evidence to determine the nature and extent of violations.
• Liaise with property owners, developers, and other stakeholders to resolve planning issues.
• Prepare written reports, notices, and case documentation for legal proceedings where required.
• Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure consistent enforcement.
Requirements:
• Previous experience in planning enforcement or a related field is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of planning legislation and enforcement procedures.
• Excellent communication, investigative, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload independently and meet deadlines.
3 Month Backlog of Enforcement
- Someone who is relatively local to Rugby as the nature of the enforcement work is that you could be called out to sites across the Borough at relatively short notice.
