Join our new Speech, Language and Communication Provision! This exciting opportunity is your chance to make a real positive impact to children with communication and interaction needs.

Our OpportunityEast Whitby Primary Academy is seeking to appoint an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our ambitious and committed team.

Following on from the success of our Pegasus Class, we are expanding our SEND and alternative provision offering to include a new targeted provision that has a specific focus on Speech, Language and Communication Needs.

Next year we anticipate that we will have 6 children with significant and complex Speech, Language and Communication Needs. Your role is to support teaching and learning led by the class teacher.

This role is to support teaching and learning and to provide care of pupils in one of the two classes in the new Unit. The role will also involve covering the class teacher for PPA, leadership time or other absences.

We are looking to appoint someone who:

• is a qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Level 4 or above)
• is an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant and has recent, relevant experience of working with children with complex SEND
• shows compassion, resilience and patience in their care for children with SEND
• holds every child and their family in the highest possible regard and lead by example, having high expectations of what every child can achieve

The appointed candidate will work alongside our new SEND Unit Teacher and our SENCo: Inclusion and will be well-supported by the wider SEND Unit team and school team.

This is an exciting opportunity to be a key part of the development of our new SEND/C & I provision from the very start, and you will have the opportunity to bring your expertise to shape our future work.
