Job title: COBOL Integration Specialist
We are seeking an experienced COBOL Integration Specialist for a futuristic position. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in COBOL, API integration, messaging systems such as MQ Series, and working knowledge of XML/SOAP/REST protocols. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining reliable communication between mainframe applications and external systems using a variety of middleware and integration tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement integration solutions connecting COBOL-based mainframe applications with external systems via APIs and messaging queues.
Work with MQ Series, API Gateways, and other mainframe middleware to ensure secure and reliable data exchange.
Develop and support solutions using XML, SOAP, and REST protocols.
Collaborate with architects and development teams to define integration patterns, service contracts, and data transformation rules.
Maintain and enhance existing integration frameworks and middleware configurations.
Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
Participate in the modernization of legacy interfaces and enable real-time communication between systems.
Document integration flows, interface specifications, and operational procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Strong hands-on experience with COBOL in mainframe environments.
Proven expertise in API integration (REST, SOAP) with legacy systems.
Proficient in using IBM MQ Series and other messaging solutions.
Solid understanding of XML, JSON, SOAP, and RESTful services.
Experience with mainframe middleware technologies and integration tools (e.g., IBM Integration Bus, DataPower, or similar).
Knowledge of API Gateways for securing and managing APIs.
Familiarity with messaging queues and asynchronous communication patterns.
Strong debugging, problem-solving, and performance tuning skills.
Effective communication and documentation abilities.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience in financial services, insurance, or telecom industries.
Exposure to DevOps tools and CI/CD processes in integration environments.
Understanding of data transformation tools like XSLT, WTX, or similar.
Experience with hybrid architectures involving both on-prem and cloud-based integrations (e.g., AWS, Azure).
