Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location: London (Hybrid – 3 days in office, 2 days remote)
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum

A respected building services and environmental design consultancy based in central London is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced engineer to lead mechanical design on a range of high-quality, sustainability-focused projects. The role involves delivering detailed design packages, coordinating with external consultants, and guiding junior engineers through each stage of the project lifecycle.
The consultancy has built a strong reputation for technically excellent, environmentally responsible design, with a collaborative, people-focused approach. Projects span residential, commercial and cultural sectors in both the UK and internationally.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading mechanical design across multiple projects
- Carrying out thermal calculations, energy modelling, plant sizing and carbon assessments
- Producing detailed design reports, drawings, specifications and schedules
- Coordinating with external design teams and internal MEP disciplines
- Attending design team meetings and conducting site inspections
- Mentoring and delegating to junior engineers
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations
Essential requirements:
- Minimum 4 years' experience in mechanical building services design
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or similar
- Proficient in thermal modelling (e.g. IES), AutoCAD and ideally Revit
- Strong understanding of building regulations, British Standards and CIBSE guidance
- Awareness of CDM responsibilities and sustainable design principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and leadership qualities
- Working towards chartership (CIBSE or IMechE)
