We run BSc (Honours), MSci and MSc programmes including in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Environmental Science, Forensic Science, and related areas. Research within the School is supported by the Centre for Biomedical Research (CBR), the Institute of Biosensing Technology (IBST) and the Science Communication Unit (SCU). These centres offer you access to the latest world class facilities and expertise to continue to develop your career.
You’ll have a PhD in a relevant subject aligned to the biological – biomedical sciences. Ideally you can evidence excellence and expertise in Biological Sciences and Biomedical Science teaching and research, as well as experience of successfully supporting undergraduate and postgraduate research projects in a higher education context.
You’ll contribute to teaching and assessing on our Biomedical and Biological science programs and you can demonstrate a good understanding of research and practical skills and a good understanding of the practical application of statistics and knowledge. Expertise in either cell biology, cancer biology or molecular biology, is desirable, along with an ability to acknowledge and communicate employability-related skills.
You have experience of devising and delivering stimulating teaching and inclusive assessments; you’ve got the ability to lead modules well and successfully supervise student research projects. You’ll contribute to the continuous improvement of our Biomedical and Biological programmes and support teaching teams on other related programmes within the School of Applied Sciences.

You’ll need to keep abreast of latest developments in this subject area and external best practice benchmarks, and to contribute to equality, diversity and inclusivity and employability initiatives as required.
We will support you in this role by an experienced senior lecturer as a mentor and we provide staff development funds to support personal and subject-related training for academic staff.

This is a fixed term post for 12 months covering a period of maternity leave or the earlier return of the postholder working on a 1.0FTE contract.

This role is campus based with the opportunity to work from home with prior agreement with your people manager.
