Key Responsibilities:
Act as a Designated Senior Officer for safeguarding concerns and Section 42 enquiries, ensuring legal and procedural compliance.
Screen referrals, make robust decisions on case progression, and authorise safeguarding plans.
Chair a range of safeguarding meetings, ensuring that Making Safeguarding Personal principles are central to all outcomes.
Oversee the completion of timely, accurate case notes and ensure all safeguarding actions are completed within agreed timescales.
Promote high standards of safeguarding practice across the team, offering oversight, challenge, and support to colleagues.
Support the Deputy Team Manager and Team Manager in meeting performance indicators and delivering service improvements.
Represent the local authority in multi-agency meetings, panels, and strategic groups, ensuring consistent follow-up and action.
Work collaboratively with internal colleagues and external partners to meet person-centred outcomes within budgetary constraints.
Lead and support on recruitment and workforce planning activities within the safeguarding team.
Actively promote safeguarding policies, protocols, and awareness internally and to partner agencies.
Essential Requirements:
Degree/Masters in Social Work and SWE registration.
Substantial experience in adult safeguarding and Section 42 enquiries.
Experience in chairing safeguarding meetings and making complex decisions under pressure.
In-depth understanding of relevant safeguarding legislation, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and associated local policies.
Strong multi-agency working skills and the ability to influence and represent the local authority effectively.
Ability to work to deadlines while maintaining high professional standards.
