JOB TITLE: Food Waste Recycling Officer - Environment and Communities

Pay rate: £17.73 per hour PAYE
The role:
On behalf of a local council, we are seeking an experienced Food Waste Recycling Officer to roll out food waste recycling services across the local area.
You will carry out site visits and devise solutions for storing and collecting food waste for properties that have limited bin storage space.
Key Responsibilities:
To design and implement a programme of targeted doorstepping to educate and encourage residents to recycle food waste.
To monitor participation rates, fill levels and contamination rates.
To create behaviour change and communication campaigns to complement service improvements.
To create a plan for contacting all private landlords, (as well as our internal Housing team), and encourage them to agree to the introduction of food waste recycling for their tenants
Prepare caddies, leaflets, and liners and arrange for their delivery to suitable households.
What the client is looking for:
Passion for the environment and for the importance of recycling
Knowledge and understanding of food waste recycling, including relevant legislation (Environment Act 2021)
Ability to provide a high standard of customer care and experience of offering information and advice to residents
Good written skills (record keeping/report writing/correspondence)
Ability to ‘sell’ service, by knocking on resident’s doors, and persuading landlords to sign up to the food waste service
Ability to remain focussed when dealing with unhelpful or anti-social behaviour
Flexibility with willingness to work outdoors in all weather and able to work early mornings, evenings and weekends, when required
Excellent IT skills
