Salary: Salary: Scale 3 / 4 (£24,222 - £28,653) plus shift allowance and weekend work enhancement per annum. Allowances: 20% shift allowance and 262 hours weekend work enhancement. This equates to approx. £8133 (gross) per annum in addition to yearly salary (figure based on a starting salary of £24,222) Allowances are paid from day 1 in post.
Hours: 37 hours per week, working a 24 hour rotating shift pattern, 365 days a year.
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Middlesbrough but could include travel to Hartlepool when required
We are looking for dedicated individuals to join our team of Detention Officers. As a Detention Officer you will be committed to maintaining public safety and ensuring the well-being of our community.
You will be responsible for the supervision, safety, and security of detainees within Cleveland Police’s Custody suite. You will be working across the custody estate, to assist with the safe and effective detention of arrested persons held in Middlesbrough Custody suite and working form Hartlepool resilience suite at times of high demand.
You will undertake duties as directed by the Custody Officer from arrival to departure and related administrative duties. You will assist the Custody Officer with the management and processing of detainees in line with procedures outlined in the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE), the Terrorism Act, the Crime (Sentences) Act, and Authorised Professional Practice (APP).
You will need to have the flexibility to meet the demands of the post and Personal Safety Training is a mandatory requirement, so successful applicants will be required to complete this upon appointment alongside first aid training. You will also need to be willing to be trained to use a defibrillator.

This is a permanent, full-time post with a weekly average of 37 hours, working part of a 24 hour rotating shift pattern. The suite is open 24/7 365 days a year including bank holidays to provide a critical service to the organisation. And although the role is advertised on a full-time basis, would we consider applications from those who wish to work part-time.
