Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs and ready to play a vital role in their learning journey? An exciting opportunity has become available for a full-time, permanent SEN Teaching Assistant to join a thriving specialist school in West Yorkshire, starting September 2025.
Working in a setting that supports learners aged 11–19 with a range of additional needs—including autism, severe and profound learning difficulties, and complex physical and sensory needs—you’ll become an integral part of a team that is committed to empowering students to achieve, connect, and thrive.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Supporting students in the classroom, helping them to engage with tailored learning activities and daily routines.
Providing personal care and emotional support to pupils, always upholding dignity and promoting independence.
Assisting the class teacher in delivering a broad and balanced curriculum that includes real-life learning and enrichment.
Contributing to a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment that reflects the setting’s values of empathy, connection, and consistency.
Working closely with professionals, families, and the wider team to support each learner’s educational and personal development journey.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, either in education, care, or community settings.
A caring, patient and proactive approach with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A willingness to learn and develop, including undertaking relevant training such as moving and handling or communication support strategies.
A strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and supporting the wellbeing of every student.
The ability to be flexible, resilient, and a team player with a genuine desire to make a difference.
Why Join This Setting?
Be part of a school that puts people first—valuing staff wellbeing, professional growth, and voice.
Benefit from ongoing training, support, and opportunities to grow in your role.
