The Adoption and Fostering Recruitment team, part of Hertfordshire’s Children’s & Families Specialist Services sits within the Adoption Service, supporting people to make enquires to adopt and foster, the team is county wide, covers all of Hertfordshire and is rated an Outstanding Service. We are proud to be members of both Adopt East and Foster East.
About the role
As a Recruitment Officer in the team, you would be involved in processing enquiries and supporting applicants on their Adoption & Fostering journeys.
Be a point of contact for the Adoption and Fostering recruitment campaigns dealing with enquiries personally by answering the phone, replying to emails for enquiries from the public who are enquiring to foster or adopt.
Giving appropriate advice, guidance and information to potential applicants, including undertaking a variety of activities to promote adoption and fostering, increasing applications and approvals.
A typical day would involve:
Taking and acting-on referrals for people who are interested in adopting or fostering. That will include making home visits to assess suitability of applicants interested in fostering.
Supporting and looking after applicants who have started their adoption or fostering process.
Organising and attending recruitment events in the community to raise the need for adopters and foster carers, along with providing information at regular online and in person open events
About you
Essential:
You must have relevant experience with working with people in the community which could include within the social care sector or similar settings.
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people
Experience of assessing and completing written reports.
Experience of using Microsoft Office, email, internet, web-based resources.
Full driving licence and access to a car.
Desirable:
Experience of working on projects, events and presenting to people.
Basic awareness of recruitment and retention, best practice in the recruitment and retention of adopters and foster carers.
Adoption and/or Fostering Experience.
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people and to explain the process of adoption and fostering to people over the phone or in person.
Experience of assessing and completing written reports with an understanding of needs and abilities of adoption and fostering applicants.
Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload, management of a caseload maintaining detailed electronic case records.
