Role Overview: We’re excited to offer an apprenticeship opportunity for a passionate and motivated individual to join our accounting team. As an Apprentice Accounts Assistant, you will gain practical experience while studying towards your AAT qualification (Level 2 or Level 3, depending on prior
experience). You will support the accounts team with various accounting tasks, including data entry, drawing accounts, preparing tax returns, and assisting with general office administration. This role provides an excellent foundation in accounting and offers potential for career growth within the practice.
Key Responsibilities:


Data Entry: Inputting financial transactions into accounting software accurately and efficiently.
Drafting Accounts: Assisting in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
Tax Returns: Supporting the preparation of corporate and personal tax returns.
Administrative Support: Performing ad hoc office tasks, including filing, document management, and assisting with client queries.
Learning & Development: Attending the AAT course and applying your studies to your daily tasks, with guidance and mentorship from senior team members.


Training
Accounts/Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Level 2 - AAT
This apprenticeship is a perfect match for someone without any accountancy or bookkeeping knowledge. On this programme they will learn the building blocks of the modern accountant. Not only will they grasp the fundamentals of bookkeeping but we will help them develop those vital skills and behaviours to enable them to put their knowledge into action.
If you’re new to accountancy and finance, looking to change your career into accountancy or have previously worked in an accounts department this level is ideal for you. You don’t need any prior experience working in accounts to study AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. There are no entry requirements, but you do need good maths, IT and English skills, and a willingness to learn.
You’ll learn a broad range of core accounting skills, including double-entry bookkeeping and basic costing as well as accountancy related business skills and personal skills. You must successfully complete the following:

Introduction to Bookkeeping (ITBK)

Principles of Bookkeeping Control (POBC)

Principles of Costing (PCTN)

Business Environment (BESY)
You will also be required to complete an End Point Assessment (EPA), which will include a synoptic assessment and interview with supporting portfolio.
Training will be provided by attending either face-to-face classroom based lessons or Live Online. An apprenticeship has to be relevant to the job you are undertaking and you must dedicate time to off the job training, as well as completing knowledge, skills and behaviours associated with your apprenticeship.

Qualifications required
Educational Requirements:


GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
Previous Experience: No prior accounting experience is necessary, though any exposure to finance or administration would be advantageous.


Skills required


Attention to Detail: Accuracy is essential in accounting, so a keen eye for detail will be crucial.
Numerical Ability: Comfortable working with numbers and understanding basic accounting principles.
IT Literacy : Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and accounting software (training
will be provided, but prior knowledge is a plus).


Prospects


There are plenty of opportunities for growth within the firm. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you may be offered a full-time role, and there will be potential to take on greater responsibilities.
