More detail about the role Ideally you will have some experience and understanding of the healthcare environment and working as part of a team, although this is not essential. As well as responding to incidents involving theft, assault, criminal damage, anti-social behaviour and substance abuse, you can be called to support challenging behaviours such as Confusion, Delirium, Dementia, and Post Operation - Anaesthetic Related Delirium. You will need to adapt your approach to ensure that our patients receive the best possible support that is delivered with compassion, care and understanding. Although our goal when dealing with incidents is de-escalation leading to non-physical outcomes, all security staff undergo onsite physical intervention training when they join. You will interact with staff, patients and visitors across all areas of the Trust on a daily basis and therefore require excellent verbal communication skills. Incidents need to be reported/recorded and some require police investigation so Security staff must be able to provide clear, concise and accurate written reports and statements. The security department provides a 24 hour hour service to the Trust, 365 days a year and the role attracts night, weekend and Bank Holiday enhancements which could total pro rata £5000 on average per annum in addition to the basic salary. This role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route. The position does not meet the required criteria outlined by the UK's immigration regulations, such as being on the list of eligible occupations or meeting the necessary salary thresholds. As a result, candidates must have an existing right to work in the UK that does not require visa sponsorship. Applicants should ensure they possess the appropriate right to work before applying, as the Trust will not be able to provide support for visa applications or sponsorship for this role. Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week. Day and Night shifts, 12 hours in duration, following a rolling 4 week pattern. Interview Date: To Be Confirmed For further information please contact: John Rowland on 01392 405668 or john.rowland1@nhs.net As an inclusive employer, the Royal Devon values diversity and is committed to creating a culture of inclusivity where everyone can be themselves and reach their full potential. We believe in fostering a sense of belonging and actively encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, cultures, and abilities. We recognise the advantages of having a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve. Preference will be given to staff with Priority and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon. The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust reserves the right to close vacancy when sufficient applications have been received. The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust was established in April 2022, bringing together the expertise of both the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust and Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust.
