Pay Rate: £20.02 to £20.98 per hour PAYE, DOE
Working Arrangement: Applicants must be prepared to work on site in Exeter - driving licence desirable
The role:
On behalf of a local council, we are seeking an experienced Health And Safety Officer with a broad understanding of health and safety risk management and compliance.
Rates can be negotiated dependant upon experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
To support the provision of an effective health & safety service for the Council on all matters relating to health & safety legislation, corporate policy and procedures to ensure that the organisation meets its statutory health and safety duties.
You will be responsible for providing on the ground advice to services, enabling operational staff to meet their compliance obligations.
You will also support Service Leads with the identification of operational risks without taking away accountability for compliance from the operation of the service
What the client is looking for:
BSc / diploma in Environmental Health & EHORB Registration and/or relevant level 6 H&S qualification (e.g. NEBOSH National diploma) and experience
Practical knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and best practice in the management of Health and Safety work
Driving licence desirable
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, similar applications and the ability to manage databases
Asbestos task manual training and P402 (within 12 months of appointment)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner that is easy to understand
Able to develop and deliver training in support of the corporate health and safety training programme
Good investigative and problem solving skills, with the ability to carry out thorough inspections
Good customer service skills: Ability to review complex information and relate it to the potentially diverse needs of both an individual and the Council
Ability to work within a corporate framework, adhering to corporate policies and procedures
Flexible, methodical, highly self-motivated and proactive
