To work as part of the medical reception team to provide an efficient, effective, and helpful service to the Practice population. Through use of initiative, a flexible approach and working consistently to high standards, you will provide valuable and valued help and support to members of the Primary Health Care Team. RESPONSIBLE TO: Reception Supervisor for day-to-day supervision. Practice Operations Manager ultimately. Business Manager in her absence. MAIN DUTIES To provide a friendly and efficient front desk reception service to the practice population To take requests for, and make, computerised appointments and home visits in line with the practice protocol To take requests for, and issue repeat medication. To deal with requests for other medication in accordance with the Practice Prescribing policy To open incoming mail and pass on for scanning in a timely manner To accurately scan and import hospital letters, results, medical records and other correspondence into patients electronic record in accordance with the Practice Scanning protocol To accurately file correspondence and medical records when necessary To enter data and patient information onto computer, including patient registrations, changes to patient details, telephone contacts, fees taken over the counter etc To extract data from the Practices clinical system To take regular backups of data To action requests from patients via eConsult To liaise with the Clinical system provider and other outside agencies eg Hospitals, Nursing Homes etc when appropriate To maintain a clean and tidy front reception desk and waiting area To receive visitors to the practice and ensure they sign in and out at the reception desk Sign post patients appropriately to attached services To ensure samples handed over the desk are directed to the appropriate person To maintain adequate levels of stock including prescriptions, bottles, etc Respond to emails including downloading and importing attached documentation Generating test requests and accessing results via the laboratory software system To lock up the practice at 18:00 where necessary. Or 20:00 on extended hours. Any other reasonable duties as directed by the Practice Manager's, within the scope of the post In addition to the above the post holder will show respect and courtesy to patients and colleagues, and maintain confidentiality of patient and other practice information at all times. The post holder will be expected to take up necessary training as required, and to maintain and adhere to Practice Health and Safety policies. Occasional overtime may be required.
