The International Team sits within the wider Media and International Directorate (MINT) which covers a broad range of work on sectors including TV, radio, press, and advertising; as well as having a key role leading the department’s international work.

We pride ourselves on our inclusive and respectful team environment, with ample opportunities to get involved in corporate work such as our social committee and staff networks.

Job description

These roles represent a great opportunity for enthusiastic self-starters with strong stakeholder engagement skills, who are enthusiastic to build a career in international policy. The post holders will have the chance to work on fast-moving policy areas - including bilateral and multilateral engagement, international strategy development and soft power - building strong networks across DCMS, the FCDO and other government departments, and devolved governments. Tasks will include:

  • Liaising with colleagues across government on DCMS policy issues;
  • Working closely with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and external stakeholders such as the British Council, ensuring DCMS sectors, priorities and dependencies are reflected in their work;
  • Coordinating briefings for senior stakeholders for a range of international engagements;
  • Analysing relevant reports, recommendations and published research;
  • Managing the International Team’s input into DCMS parliamentary processes;
  • Planning and delivery of complex international activity, including logistics and diary management;
  • Responding to correspondence, Freedom of Information requests, and related administrative support; and
  • Contributing to business case development as needed.

*DCMS is currently in the process of scoping a soft power joint unit with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). One of these roles may be seconded into that unit, but will remain a DCMS staff member.
