Crynodeb

The Environment Agency are fully committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve. We don’t just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it, and live it, for the benefit of our staff, our communities, and our environment.

Join us in securing nature’s recovery.

Do you want to help tackle the interlinked biodiversity and climate emergencies? Can you provide professional leadership to help us meet our nature conservation duties and help create better places for people and wildlife across England? This role offers you the opportunity to make a real difference.

Nature is the natural world, with an emphasis on biodiversity, the variety of life, ecosystems and natural processes on Earth. Nature is currently degraded in England and Nature Recovery is the process of nature returning to its former, better state, able to cope with future change and provide all the benefits we depend on for our wellbeing and sustainable economic growth.

As a Nature Recovery Manager, you will work across the Environment Agency, wider Defra group and partners. You will shape and direct our organisational response to conserving and enhancing biodiversity and nature recovery.

Your expertise will inform government policymakers, provide technical input on key environmental programs, guide teams to integrate biodiversity conservation and lead the biodiversity profession nationally, offering expert guidance and support.

This role will also play an active role on the Leadership Team for the E&B Planning and Place section of the EA.

Please read the Additional Information Pack for more information about this role.

This post is part of a wider Nature and Place Manager recruitment campaign. More information can be found in the Additional Information Pack.
The team
You’ll join our Nature Recovery Team within the Environment and Business (E&B) Directorate.

We provide strategic leadership that delivers measurable outcomes in Nature Recovery from catchment to coast. While geographically dispersed, we excel at remote collaboration.

Please see the Additional Information Pack for more information about the Team.
Experience/skills required
We are looking for a strategic thinker with:

- Proven ecological and environmental management expertise, with a track record of translating scientific evidence into actionable recommendations.
- Leadership and management experience, enabling you to inspire and empower your team.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, from senior leaders to policymakers.
- Commitment to innovation, especially exploring new opportunities to work with nature.
- Professional credibility, ideally as a member of a recognised professional institute (or working towards membership).

You’ll have a range of development opportunities and appropriate training will be provided.

Please read the Additional Information Pack for more information about what experience and skills are needed for both posts.
