Summary
Position Overview: Power Through Sport CIC is looking for a dynamic and motivated Sports Development Officer with teaching and tutoring responsibilities to join our growing team. This role combines sports development with the opportunity to teach and tutor individuals, focusing on the growth of sports programmes and engaging participants in learning both practical skills and academic concepts related to sport. You will play a key role in the expansion of our services, working with schools, community groups, and individuals to foster participation and development in sports.
Key Responsibilities:
Sports Development:
• Lead the design, development, and delivery of sports programmes that enhance physical activity, skill development, and social inclusion for a wide range of participants.
• Build and maintain relationships with local schools, sports clubs, and community organisations to deliver tailored sports programs and initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for new sports programs or partnerships, and work to expand the reach of Power Through Sport CIC in local communities.
• Coordinate and manage events, tournaments, and competitions, ensuring their smooth delivery and fostering a competitive yet inclusive environment.
• Conduct needs assessments and evaluations to ensure the continued growth and effectiveness of sports programmes.
• Monitor the progress and achievements of individuals and teams, providing guidance and support as needed.
Teaching / Tutoring:
• Deliver educational content related to sports, fitness, and personal development to students, youth groups, and individuals as part of structured programs.
• Teach key theoretical concepts in sports science, coaching, fitness, and wellbeing, with an emphasis on practical application.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring sessions, supporting learners to improve their understanding and performance in both theory and practice.
• Assess participants’ learning and provide constructive feedback, helping them to progress toward their academic and sporting goals.
• Use a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and ensure a positive, engaging environment for all participants.
• Encourage personal development and leadership skills through sport, focusing on confidence-building, teamwork, and communication.
Community Engagement & Collaboration:
• Work closely with local schools, youth organisations, and community groups to promote the benefits of sports and physical activity.
• Act as a liaison between Power Through Sport CIC and external partners, supporting the organisation's mission and values in all interactions.
• Deliver workshops and presentations in community settings to raise awareness of the impact of sport on physical and mental wellbeing.
• Collaborate with other staff members and external partners to develop new initiatives that promote sports participation and healthy lifestyles.
