Job Details

A Client Affairs Officer is required to join the Appointee & Deputyship team. The team provide a comprehensive customer focused service on behalf of vulnerable individuals, under the direction of the Office of Public Guardian and Department of Work & Pensions.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• To submit applications for the appointment of Corporate Deputy and/or Appointee by liaising with the DWP and Court of Protection.
• To be responsible for the day to day financial management and reporting of a caseload of Deputyship and Appointeeship cases ensuring that the client’s money is correctly received and accounted for while their bills are paid in a timely manner.
• To be responsible for responding to requests for Protection of Property, Community Funerals and, where appropriate, dealing with the Sale of Properties.
• To carry out weekly reconciliations of Client Bank accounts and prepare annual returns to the Court of Protection and Inland Revenue where necessary.
• To claim and maximise entitlement to Welfare Benefits on behalf of the client where appropriate.
• Maintain an up to date knowledge of legislative guidance in respect of managing the affairs of vulnerable clients.
• To be responsible for making referrals to the Government Legal Department (GLD) for disposal of deceased clients estate.
• To work with colleagues in a professional manner to meet company standards, achieve quality levels and comply with contractual targets and deadlines.
• Any other duties as required, commensurate with grade and responsibility at any location within which the business requires.

Essential Skills and Attributes:

• Previous experience of working with vulnerable adults in a financial environment.
• Excellent numeracy skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Good IT skills encompassing the ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work to a high degree of accuracy whilst being able to organise and prioritise workloads even when under pressure.
• Ability to communicate clearly and logically to our customers with patience and understanding, especially when communicating with any vulnerable individuals.
• GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English at grade C or above.
• Must have access to car in order to carry out the duties of this role.
