The Healthy Bladder and Bowel Nursery Nurse is a valued member of the Bladder and Bowelteam engaging withparentscarers and a variety of other professionals ina number ofsettings. Acting as a specialist resourcecollaborating and working in partnership to promote each child’s maximum potential and independence with their continence needs.
The Healthy Bladder and Bowel Nursery Nurse will work independently using their own initiative, organisational and time management skills. The team is forward thinking and enables members to develop skills whilst providing support and the opportunity to discuss and reflect onpractice.
• Providea high standard of clinical care to childrenfollowingtheBladder and BowelPaediatricPathway.
• Recognise that each child is an individual and entitled to be treated as such with their needsrespectedand their rights followed.
• Provide care to individual children onacaseload through re-assessment. Independentlydevelop,implementand evaluatestructured toileting programmes using evidenced based advice and information to parents,carersand staff.
• Provide specialist adviceand educationata high standard of care andtochildren, and their families to maximise potential for toilet training independence.
• Deliver training and education toother professionals.
• Provide health promotion educationto prevent the difficulties that children can experience with toileting.
• Work in partnership with other healthcare professionals and multi-agency workers.
• Under supervision of the Clinical Nurse Specialists,work with vulnerable families to improve outcomes.
• Berequiredtoworkeffectivelytoinclude verbal, written and electronic media.
• Undertakefurther professional training that may berequired.
• To keep up to date records in line with BHFT policy.
