Location: Usher Institute, Edinburgh BioQuarter (hybrid and remote work possible)
The Teaching Organisation at the Deanery of Molecular, Genetic and Population Health Sciences within The University of Edinburgh is looking for a Peer Support Student Coordinator. The Teaching Organisation manages 7 MSc programmes, 6 of which are delivered as online distance learning to part-time students. Our student population is diverse and international, most of our students are busy professionals in the health and social care sector.
The Opportunity:
In this role, you will use your comprehensive knowledge of the University of Edinburgh, gained as a current student within the University, and an understanding of the needs of on-campus and online distance learning students, to be actively involved in Peer Support Project activities in the Deanery. You will also provide administrative support for the day-to-day running of student support schemes, including coordination of peer support volunteers.
This post is a designated Student Employment post available for 12 months from September 2024.
This post is advertised as part time for 7 hours per week, and we are open to requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working. We may also consider requests for remote working within the UK, if the candidate is an online distance learning student.
Your skills and attributes for success:
• Matriculated as a current student at the University of Edinburgh
• Working knowledge of relevant systems, equipment, processes and procedures including standard software packages and possibly some knowledge of non-standard software, and a willingness to learn new skills as required and undertake appropriate training.
• Good written and oral communication skills; good numeracy and literacy skills.
• A clear understanding of confidentiality and an ability to deal appropriately with sensitive information
• A comprehensive knowledge of the University of Edinburgh gained as a current student within the University and an understanding of the diverse profile of its students (especially online distance learning students)
