The Maternity and Neonatal Programme has an exciting opportunity for a talented and experience Project Manager to join the team to support implementation of the Three Year Delivery Plan and make maternity and neonatal care safer, more personalised and more equitable for women.
The successful candidate will work on the delivery of multiple policy objectives including the establishment of Perinatal Pelvic Health Services and Enhanced Midwifery Continuity of Carer teams.
The post holder will:
• Provide project management expertise to ensure that these projects are delivered on time, in budget and will achieve beneficial outcomes for women and babies.
• Contribute to policy development through the drafting of briefings, analysis and service specifications. They will also input into strategy documents.
• Work with frontline leaders, regional teams, clinical networks, LMNSs, service users and a range of national organisations with responsibility for improving the safety of maternity and neonatal services
• Ensure that the projects maintain business focus, have clear authority and that the context, including risks, is actively managed in alignment with the strategic priorities of NHS England.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.
The Maternity and Neonatal Programme drives forward policy to transform maternity services to ensure care is safer, more personalised, and more equitable. This role provides an opportunity to be at the cutting edge of maternity clinical policy and strategy development, working closely with key system leaders. Maternity is a high-profile part of NHS England, with a new Three-year Delivery Plan for Maternity and Neonatal launched in March 2023.
The successful candidate must have:
• A passion for improving the experience and outcomes of women and families in the context of maternity care.
• An understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy.
• Ability to work effectively, pragmatically and at pace across organisational boundaries to ensure delivery.
• Ability to analyse complex facts and situations and develop a range of options.
• Ability to manage projects including highlight reporting, issues, risks, and governance.
•Experience of preparing briefing papers and correspondence at senior management team level.
• Ability to build relations with internal and external partners which are critical in securing the strategic objectives of the business.
