Pay Rate: £18.04 per hour PAYE

Hours per week: 35 Monday to Friday, normal working hours

Role Length: This opening assignment is for 3 months

City: Morden, London

Standard DBS disclosure required for this role

Candidates must be able to participate in a rota system, covering the hours of 0645-2300, Monday to Saturday and 1 Sunday in 8.

The purpose of the role is to be responsible for enforcing permitted parking places and waiting and loading restrictions throughout the Borough both on and off-street.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide cover on day-to-day matters in the absence of the Team Leader on matters directly relating to the duties of the post holder and refer more complex issues for decision where early responses are required.
Train and/or assist in the training of other staff.
Issue Penalty Charge Notices as appropriate for contravention of parking, loading and waiting regulations using handheld computer terminals or hand written tickets as required. To ensure computer equipment and printers are correctly used.
Issue leaflets or warning notices to parked vehicles as required.
Maintain accurate records of enforcement action taken.
Ensure markings and signs of restrictions are of adequate standard to ensure effective enforcement, recording and reporting defects as appropriate.
Deal with members of the public politely, firmly and fairly.
Wear the approved uniform at all times on duty and to maintain a smart appearance.
Operate on a rota system as allocated by the Parking Services Manager.
Use office technology as requested.
Advise the public in relation to enquiries concerning parking matters.
Ensure that Corporate and Departmental Health and Safety policies are implemented at all times and to raise any concerns regarding their operation, or any other Health and Safety matters, with the appropriate line manager.



Qualifications:

3 GCSE's, Grades A-C, or equivalent including English and Mathematics.



Skills & Experience:

Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Knowledge of current Road Traffic Legislation in respect of parking.
Able to work out doors in all weather conditions and the ability to walk up to on average 10 miles plus per duty shift.
The ability to remain polite with members of the public whilst firmly enforcing waiting and loading regulations and enforcement of permitted parking places.
Good communication skills both written and oral.
Understanding of and a commitment to Customer Care.
Able to operate a portable computer.
Able to work as a member of a team.



Full UK driving licence required for this role.
