Our opportunity
This is an outstanding opportunity to join our new secondary school (with sixth form provision).
School life is a key part of the educational experience, you will make sure our pupils have the right supportive, encouraging, nurturing environment to thrive and maximise their achievements.
You will be working closely with the Heads of Year, the Pastoral team, the Attendance Officer, and Senior Staff to monitor and support our pupils.
We are looking for someone who is caring, inspiring, understanding, and motivating. You will support, nurture, and encourage our pupils.
Key Duties
• Acting as a tutor and mentor to pupils
• Communicating with parents/carers about pupil attendance and behaviour
• Promote our student rewards system
• Support pupils who are re-integrating following an absence
• Support students who have been isolated from their teaching group - eg, supervise, collect work, provide guidance
Key experience:
• An understanding of the potential barriers to learning and attending school faced by children and young people and how they can be overcome
• Experience of working with younq people of relevant age
• NVQ Level 3 qualification
We are looking for someone who:
• Is supportive, nurturing and understanding
• Seeks to make learning exciting and a positive experience
• Enjoys working as part of a team
• Demonstrates good communication skills both orally and in writing
• Has the ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people
• Holds emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours and attitudes
