MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESClinical: Proficient in Audiological testing of Babies over the age of 7 months, children and Adults. Adhering to BSA standards and national guidance. Work automatously as a registered professional interpreting results and formulating an agreed management plan. This includes analysis and interpretation of information obtained from their reported medical history, otoscopic examination and audiological assessments. To assess their suitability for hearing aids or the necessity for onwards referral to ENT. Take accurate and safe ear impressions following nationally recognised procedures, and determine the type of ear mould required to meet patients audiological needs Provision of written information and management advice to patients, parents and other professionals. Including contributing Education Health and Care Plans when required. To supervise other members of staff performing the same role to ensure clinical effectiveness Maintain professional registration and training requirements. Ensure British Society of Audiology Recommended Procedures and local/national guidance and protocols are adhered to at all times. Participate in peer review Participate in Safeguarding Supervision Managerial Demonstrate excellent leadership qualities Manage the day to day Paediatric Audiology and ENT service, ensuring sufficient staffing for each clinic. To manage leave requests and staff sickness in line with Provide Policies. To line manage Audiology staff including 121s, supervision and annual appraisals. Develop and instigate service improvement plans Manage the departments clinical timetable ensuring capacity is maximised and a high level of patient care is given, Manage patient complaints Ensure clinical records are maintained as per Provides record keeping policy Ensure departmental clinical activity is accurate for submission to Mid Essex ICB and Department of Health. Triage incoming referrals and allocate to appropriate service or caseload. Organise and/or attend multi-disciplinary meetings across the different organisations (i.e. Acute team, Education and Social services) to ensure we have a seamless service for patients. Responsibility for reporting and identifying health and safety risks for the Service. Maintain accurate maintenance log for Paediatric and ENT audiology equipment. Responsible for arranging repairs to medical equipment and annual calibration Adhere to all guidelines relating to Health and Safety, infection prevention and risk management. Ensure skill mix appropriate to service needs. Provide leadership to encourage staff to work autonomously. To participate in recruitment processes for the Audiology & ENT Service To represent Provide CIC at system meetings including Essex Paediatric Audiology Network group, Childrens services working group and NHS England Regional ENT service improvement group when required. Co-ordinate Research and Development within the Audiology and ENT department Produce protocols and patient outcome measures for audit and service improvement purposes.
