Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Mortuary Technician to join our compassionate team. As an experienced Mortuary Technician, you will play a crucial role in the respectful handling and preparation of deceased individuals. You will work closely with funeral directors, pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that all mortuary services are conducted with the highest standards of care, dignity, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of tasks associated with the preparation of deceased bodies for funerals, burials, or cremations, including embalming, dressing, cosmetology, and restoration.
Assist in the coordination and scheduling of autopsies and other post-mortem examinations.
Ensure the proper identification and labeling of bodies to maintain accurate records and avoid any errors.
Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the mortuary, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Transport deceased individuals from the place of death to the mortuary and between mortuary facilities as required.
Prepare and set up viewing rooms and chapels for visitations and services.
Provide support and assistance to grieving families, offering compassionate care and addressing their needs during a difficult time.
Manage and inventory mortuary supplies, including chemicals, instruments, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Complete and maintain all necessary documentation and records, adhering to legal and organizational requirements.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with industry practices and standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
Proven experience as a Mortuary Technician, with a deep understanding of mortuary procedures and practices.
Level 3 Certification in mortuary science or a related field.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care and professionalism.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide compassionate support to grieving families.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to mortuary operations.
Physical stamina and the ability to handle deceased bodies with respect and care.
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record for transportation duties.
Work Environment:
This position involves working in a mortuary setting, which may include exposure to deceased bodies and potentially distressing situations.
Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the needs of the mortuary and the families served.
