Role Specific Accountabilities:
Ensure testing policies and supporting processes are adhered to across the Testing team
Ensure new and amended systems, configurations, packages and services perform to agreed standards
Determine specific standards for project testing phases and ensure Information Technology Management Systems (ITMS) employees conform to these standards
Ensure testing procedures ultimately assist with improving the quality of the software and services being tested
Oversee and manage the integrity of testing and acceptance activities at a project level
Role Specific Responsibilities
Assist the Testing Lead to maintain the test strategy for ITMS and communicate this across the Technical Delivery team
Help identify and implement process improvements, and contribute to corporate testing standards and definition of best practice
Provide assistance for the overall planning, design, management, execution and reporting on all testing whilst using the appropriate testing tools and methods
Manage and maintain all relevant Test-ware including test cases, test reports and test plans.
Define test conditions, design test cases and create test scripts and supporting data for given requirements and specifications.
Create test cases by applying in-depth technical analysis of both functional and non-functional specifications (maintainability, reliability, efficiency, usability)
Specify and document requirements for test cases including environment, data resources and tools.
Oversee test activities and analyse reports whilst identifying key issues and risks that could impact DBS.
Produce and review test scripts, materials and regression test packs to test new and amended software or services.
Document complex test scripts using agreed methods and standards.
Oversee and ensure all test phases including unit, system, integration, functional testing, & acceptance are conducted to agreed standards, in an appropriate and timely manner.
Document any risks related to deployment of new systems or services and take preventative actions for relevant risks.
Following appropriate analyses, validate whether or not the new design or solution meets quality and performance requirements.
Provide detailed reports to the Testing Lead on progress anomalies, risks and issues associated to the overall project including system quality and suggestions for improvement.
Review the test register that records both initial requirements and testing results in order to define any necessary changes to tests.
Assist the Testing Lead with the overall planning and coordination of system tests within development and integration projects.
Ensure security policies and procedures are in place during testing of applications and systems to ensure that the necessary controls are incorporated.
Develop, document and review testing deliverables across projects and communicate these to the relevant stakeholders.
Coach and mentor direct reports, monitor performance levels and ensure these are aligned to MoD standards.
Attend all required governance boards.
Act as a point of escalation, review and approval for testing issues and key decisions.
Extensive experience working in testing environments.
At least 4 years’ experience at managerial level.
Good communication skills – both oral and written.
Proven leadership and managerial skills.
Good awareness of commercial commitments and liabilities.
