The purpose of this role is to create, monitor and improve graphic design, video and other visual communications for the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). The successful role holder will lead and manage the creative design team. They will be the agency’s most senior professional subject matter expert in graphic communications.

The role holder is the advisor and primary decision maker for DVSA on using creative design effectively and economically. The role holder will develop graphic communications, They will organise and keep themselves informed of user preferences and developments in communications, design and government. The role holder will effectively manage people, workflows and systems.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;

  • Identifying people’s design needs and matching them to appropriate content formats.
  • Creating, monitoring and improving content to industry design principles, and in response to evidence of people’s needs, behaviours and preferences.
  • Defining and establishing the principles and methods for DVSA creative design, drawing on the creativity and experience in the team and across the Department for Transport (DfT) and government.
  • Carrying out management responsibilities effectively and in line with DVSA policies and processes.
  • Working with, leading and acting as a role model for team members and colleagues in line with civil service values.
