We are advertising for a dynamic and compassionate Research Nurse leader to join our Lupus Research team.

The research nurse will have experience in management of patients with Lupus and/or Rheumatology. They will line manage at least two junior research staff within the Department and act as a role model for excellence in clinical research. They will liaise closely with the Lupus and Rheumatology Management team and the SAS Research Management team.

The post holder will take responsibility for the safe administration of experimental therapies via different routes including IVs and for monitoring the expected and unexpected side effects of any drugs, devices or interventional treatments used in these trials.

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate expert research nursing care and provide support to patients attending clinics and the Research Department who have been or have the potential to be recruited onto a clinical trial or research study. The Research Nurse will play a key role in ensuring that any research undertaken within the department safeguards the well-being of the patients or volunteers is conducted according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trial) Regulations 2004 and Amended Regulations 2006. In conjunction with the other members of the team, the nurse will facilitate the production of good quality research.

The candidate will be joining a dynamic, hardworking and supportive team of clinical and research nurses and Principal Investigators within the directorate covering novel and exciting clinical research trials. You will be working alongside leaders in the field of Lupus / Rheumatology Research and will have close links with academics through Kings College London (KCL).

As a clinical research nurse in the unit you will find many exciting opportunities to develop as well as delivering to Lupus studies, you will be exposed to the clinical environment of the speciality and the many facets of evidence -based care deployed.

The successful candidate will be registered nurse, with previous Lupus/Rheumatology clinical experience as well as extensive research experience ideally in Lupus or any other related speciality. You must have good communication and clinical skills, as well as the ability to identify deteriorating patients and take appropriate action. Extensive knowledge of the regulatory environment that surrounds clinical research, as well as previous experience of clinical data management are essential.
