We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time neuropsychology research assistant (fixed term for 23 months), who is highly motivated, committed and enthusiastic about working with children to join our supportive and dynamic Neurosciences department This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience or develop existing knowledge, clinical and research skills within a neuroscience setting.
You will contribute to the project “SCN1AHorizons: A natural history study ofSCN1A-related epilepsy in the United Kingdom” led by Chief Investigator Professor Andreas Brunklaus. The aim of this natural history study is to gain an in-depth understanding of the impact of Dravet syndrome and otherSCN1A-related epilepsies on the patient and family, to help inform future treatment, support and research.
Study participants undergo detailed clinical and neuropsychology assessments. The post-holder will be responsible for carrying out the neuropsychology visits with participants and their caregivers every 6- or 12-months, dependent upon age of participant. The research assistant will be fully trained to carry out a range of neurodevelopmental assessments, under the supervision of a Consultant Paediatric Neuropsychologist.
Due to an anticipated high volume of applicants, we will close recruitment after the first 60 applications are submitted.
The post-holder will be fulfilling an important role within the study team, carrying out detailed neuropsychological assessment of child participants under the supervision of an experienced Paediatric Neuropsychologist. They will work closely with a team of researchers across the UK, as well as a wider study team of paediatric consultants and psychologists.
