JOB TITLE: Clinical Fellow (Middle/Senior Grade) in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine

GRADE: Clinical Fellow

HOURS: Full-Time

RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of Children’s Services

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Head of Service, Paediatric Respiratory

An opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Respiratory at the Evelina London Children's Hospital.

The post holder will participate on the out of hours on call rota (including nights and weekends). Daytime working will be based at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, a regional centre for Paediatric services in the South East of England. All Fellow posts are clinical appointments, but embedded in departments with a strong academic record, and development of a research interest will be encouraged.



As an organisation we are committed to developing our services in ways that best suit the needs of our patients. This means that some staff groups will increasingly be asked to work a more flexible shift pattern so that we can offer services in the evenings or at weekends.
1. To provide clinical care to respiratory, sleep and ventilation and complex airway in-patients and out-patients at Evelina London Children Hospital.
2. To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care.
3. To take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.
4. To contribute to the management of the clinical service and service development.
Key Relationships

Head of Service for Paediatric Respiratory, Matron, Consultants and Junior Medical Staff, Nursing Staff, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Allied Health Professionals, Administrative and Clerical Support Staff, Professional and Technical staff, Service Manager.

Clinical Responsibilities

Based at Evelina London Children’ Hospital (St Thomas’ Site):

There is currently a team of 8 middle grade doctors (5 ST6-8, 3 Clinical Fellows) including this post sharing the cover for general paediatrics and paediatric subspecialties part of general paediatric team: paediatric respiratory, infectious diseases/immunology, endocrine, gastroenterology, haematology at the St Thomas’s site. Daytime work is based in paediatric respiratory medicine inpatient and outpatient, whilst out-of-hours work includes evenings and weekend daytime cover for general paediatrics under the guidance of a general paediatric consultant on-call.
