Summary


Responsible for providing an efficient, high quality data entry and clerical support to data team within the department under the supervision the Data Manager and Audit Leads.
• The post holder will assist in the collection, verification, analysis and validation and data entry of all data submission requirements for national bodies (such as NICOR and The Vascular Society) within the Cardiovascular Directorate, ensuring accuracy at all times.
• Facilitate and manage the collation of data for the monthly department Audit meetings and assist in the analysis of data for such meetings.
• Work with the Kings Health Partnership within Guys and St. Thomas’ NHS Trust and Kings College Hospital NHS Trust
• Handle sensitive information and must maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Support the implementation of the Directorate’s ‘Assuring Clinical Outcomes’ policy as part of its Clinical Governance Strategy.
• Assist in developing and maintaining a comprehensive database of all cardiovascular patients for the provision of clinical audit.

· Under the supervision of the cardiovascular audit leads collect, validate and submit data on all heart failure patients to NICOR, liaising with medical staff, theatres and wards to ensure completion of all data on all patients.

· To work as a member of the Cardiovascular Data team, reporting to theCardiovascular QIPS Managerand providing cross cover when required.

· Work with Heart Failure, MINAP, SCTS, EPS, TAVI, Vascular and Intervention Teams to collate, verify and accurately enter patient data on the national databases (NICOR, NVR)

· Consistently and reliably meet monthly deadlines.

· Communicate data collection and validation requirements to staff within the directorate

· Review agreed data sets each week and inform the relevant staff of missing data

· Assist the department in other data requests or collection of information such as local audits

· Ensure that national data entry deadlines are met in a timely manner so that the trust is fully compliant

IT and Information Resources
· Under the supervision of the audit lead to assist in monitoring and reporting requirements of the department to National Institute for Cardiovascular Outcomes Research (NICOR) via data collection and collation including the Annual Report and ad hoc reporting requirements.

· To identify and prepare relevant and timely data for Cardiovascular and Kings Health Partnership audit meetings and Clinical Audit Group Meetings.

· To write reports for data extraction from directorate databases for research and audit purposes with the agreement of the audit lead.

· To export reports to excel and access for further interrogation of data.

· To identify, prepare and analyse data for retrospective and prospective audit and research studies.

· To attend regular directorate and Trust audit meetings and present an overview of current data problems.

· To perform data analysis to identify outcome data and to use these analyses to advise the Cardiovascular Department and Kings Health Partnership on adverse variances so that appropriate further investigation may take place.

· To work with the Audit Lead to monitor clinical outcomes where aberrant trends exist

· To undertake data analysis when required, presenting and interpreting the results.
Research and Development
· To work with the lead consultant for audit to identify new data collection, validation and presentation requirements.

· To assist the Clinical Governance Lead in Cardiovascular Services in monitoring the progress of the implementation of audit recommendations in the service. This will be through the production of quarterly audit reports, showing targets and milestones within the NSF, the directorate’s performances against them and highlight areas of shortfall.
