We’re on a learning journey – and you could be part of it.

Following the merger of our clinical coding services across Guy's and St Thomas’, Royal Brompton and Harefield, we are recruiting three Band 5 Senior Clinical Coders to join our dynamic and expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in shaping a future-facing coding service across a multi-site Trust.

Our focus isn’t just on coding activity - it’s about improving patient outcomes through accurate, high-quality clinical data. You'll be helping us build a new kind of service – one that’s more integrated, innovative and impactful.

As a Senior Clinical Coder, you will:
• accurately abstract and translate complex clinical records into high-quality coded data using ICD-10 and OPCS-4
• work closely with clinicians, medical secretaries and coders to ensure coding accuracy and timely data entry
• act as a lead contact for designated specialties, resolving coding queries and improving documentation practices
• mentor junior coders, supporting training and quality improvement
• be part of a supportive, diverse, and fast-evolving department where your insight and contribution are valued.

About Us:

The Clinical Coding Department at Guy's and St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust is a vital part of our healthcare system. We are responsible for accurately translating patient information into codes that are used for billing, research, and planning purposes. Our work directly impacts the Trust's ability to recover income and plan services effectively.

Our Team:

Our team is comprised of skilled and dedicated professionals who are committed to delivering high-quality work within demanding time frames. We work closely with clinicians, medical secretaries, and other staff to ensure that all relevant information is captured and coded accurately.

For more information about the role, duties and expectations, please refer to the attached Job Description and Person Specification document.
