Summary

Prosecutions Lawyer (PO3 - PO5)

Main purpose of post

To support the Senior Prosecutions Lawyer in ensuring that the Council receives a cost effective high quality Prosecutions Service and in delivering advice and legal support to the Council in the areas of criminal law and local government law and such other areas and projects as are allocated from time to time.
To undertake such advocacy as is required from time to time.
To ensure that all such work is carried out to the requirements of relevant clients and to appropriate professional standards.


MUST HAVE RECENT LOCAL GOVERNMENT EXPERIENCE IN PROSECUTIONS AND CRIMINAL LITIGATION IN A LOCAL GOVERNMENT SETTING.
EXPERIENCE OF DEALING WITH LICENSING MATTERS INCLUDING LICENSING ACT 2003 AND IDEALLY EXPERIENCE OF SITTING AS A LEGAL ADVISER TO SUB-COMMITTEES ARISING THEREUNDER.

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Prosecutions Lawyer to join our legal team in the financial services industry. As a Prosecutions Lawyer at our company, you will play a crucial role in upholding the legal standards and ensuring compliance within our organization.

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of legal matters, including fraud cases, misconduct investigations, regulatory compliance, and other financial crimes. As a member of our legal team, you will collaborate with various stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, regulatory bodies, and internal departments to ensure the success of our prosecutions efforts.

Responsibilities
Conduct legal research and provide legal advice on prosecutions matters
Prepare and conduct hearings and trials, including drafting and reviewing legal documents, briefs, and pleadings
Gather and analyze evidence, interview witnesses, and provide legal advice to investigators and law enforcement agencies during the investigation process
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with laws, rules, and regulations
Prepare and present cases to regulatory bodies and external agencies
Manage and maintain accurate and confidential legal records
Stay up-to-date with changes in laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to financial crimes and prosecutions
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Law and a valid license to practice law in the United Kingdom
2 years of experience as a prosecutor or prosecutions lawyer, preferably in the financial services industry
Strong knowledge of criminal law, regulations, and procedures
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
