We have an exciting opportunity in the School of Chemical, Materials and Biological Engineering for someone with a passion for industrial biotechnology looking to use their skills in biochemical engineering to make an impact on bioreactor technology. You will join the MacInnes and Karunakaran research team in our large and diverse School of Chemical, Materials and Biological Engineering. Your standing and knowledge will further strengthen our strong international research profile and our reputation for novel, research-led teaching.

You will work in a well-connected team with world-leading reputations in the Spironix team (Spironix.co). We are well known internationally for our applied research and we are currently pursuing commercialisation opportunities for our reactor technology. You will use your know-how and skills in evaluating bioreactor performance to provide essential support to advance the existing prototype towards commercial deployment.

This role is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in handling our innovative bioreactor technology, practical biochemical engineering techniques, handling of microorganisms and use of liquid chromatography and other bioanalytical techniques for bioproduct characterisation. You will play a key part in the creation and development of instruction manuals and liaising with external industrial collaborators to deliver the main project outcomes.

Educated to a Masters level in Biochemical Engineering, you will have prior experience in cutting-edge bioreactor technologies and experience of rapidly adapting your own skills to new circumstances. As you will be responsible for assessing bioreactor performance, prior experience in the use of liquid chromatography and knowledge of softwares such as Aspen+ and Python would be an advantage.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
